This group is dedicated to discussing innovation in the healthcare sector. Whether it be in the hospital, office, home, or through a plan or an employer, if it is a new way of doing things in healthcare, it is here. New York has become the epicenter of these innovations and our community has thrived since Eugene Borukovich first founded it.
New in 2012 we are developing tracks for Physicians, Hospitals, and Patients. Over the past few years we have had a series of events featuring the latest new companies, pitch events to match startups and investors, Hospital events to showcase, panel discussions on topics like Healthcare and Social Media and more. The companies that have presented include Phreesia, ZocDoc, ComScore, YourNurseisOn, HealthWorldWeb (bought by Healthgrades), FairCareMD, DocMatcher, ClearHealthCosts, Healthrageous, AbilTo, LanguageMate, Wellness Layers, HealthLeap (bought by Vitals), DailyFeats, EarndIt, CareProsper, and more. We also invite speakers like Todd Park, CTO of HHS to come speak and hold events like Healthcare Kickstarter where the Angels and VCs pitched to over 200 healthcare startups.
An important aspect of how we run this group is that it is user generated. We ask our members to suggest topics or speakers. Many of our best events have come from members: Bernie Kahn (Healthcare and Social Media), Jeanne Pinder (Todd Park), and Hospitals 2.0 (Jon Gordon) to name a few.
In 2012 we are taking this to a new level, enabling a few of our leaders to run groups within the group. It didn't make sense to split into many groups since healthcare is all the same system, but we wanted to designate leaders by sub-sector. To this end Tim Brown has stepped forward to run a Hospitals 2.0 section, Steve Merahn, MD is running the new Doctors 2.0 group, and Lynn Nezin, Ph.D. will run the Patients 2.0 thread.
We also needed to get organized and have asked our team to take responsibility for certain areas.
Laurie Wheeler - Sponsorship Opportunities
Kyle Robertson - Publications and Attendance
Andrea Spillman - Communications and Social Media
Presenters are always needed as well. Please submit your ideas or decks to health20nyc (at) gmail.com and we will review for inclusion in our next event.
Thank you for your support in joining this group. We are a volunteer organization and can always use help. Please contact any member of the leadership team if you would like to contribute.
