Introduction

Looking to introduce my nonfiction book on healthcare to others who agree with its concepts and can benefit from it.

What topic would you like to see discussed at the New York Healthcare Meetups?

Teaching people to be more responsible/accountable for their own healthcare instead of looking to government for answers and solutions.

    New Book on Healthcare

"Hi, everyone! I'm new to MeetUp.com and your group, so I wanted to introduce myself and my latest project. My name is Jennifer Heyns and I'm an author/columnist. ... MoreI've just self-published my nonfiction book on healthcare: Bargaining for Our Lives. It's a great book on how my family has navigated the world of healthcare without health insurance, successfully, for the past several years. I would love for every American to read this book and reap its benefits. For the insured it's an eye-opening account of things that one tends to take for granted when an HMO dictates your medical/healthcare choices including the real costs of healthcare. For the uninsured it's a great look into alternatives for taking care of yourself and your family by doing things like negotiating costs, using the barter system and our market-driven economy, performing background checks on medical professionals and treatment centers. My goal for this book, aside from having every American buy and read a copy, is to get people thinking about their healthcare, seeking more affordable, quality care and just generally becoming more responsible and accountable for their healthcare instead of looking to the government to solve our healthcare issues and offer solutions that may or may not benefit us. Bargaining for Our Lives is available now at www.JenniferHeyns.com as an eBook (pdf) or CD, on www.CreateSpace.com as a paperback and will be available very soon on Amazon.com and at the Kindle store. If you're planning to order a paperback I urge you to order it through Amazon between 2/14 and 2/16 - I'm hoping for a Valentine's Day present of becoming a Best Selling Author and if we all place our orders at the same time I just could be! Thank you and best to you all, Jennifer "
