Good Morning Health 2.0 NYC!
I hope all are having an awesome month. I know around here it has been a beehive of activity as we get ready to launch a new version of FairCareMD and we roll out the mPad, a medical kiosk that is a key part of our Health Online Patient Experience network. Add to that the explosion of this meetup group and you can see why I an sending this at 6 AM. But, as the late, great Jim Morrison said, "There will be no eternal reward for those who waste the dawn." Speaking of our growth, I'd like to note that the increased activity and quality of the Health 2.0 NYC experience is due to our dedicated team of volunteers. Each is pretty amazing in their own right and deserves a whole newsletter about them. Check them out here: http://www.health20ny... New additions include Sophia Chan (Finance, Bentley, BT, Banking) and Sonali Nigam (Stanford, Clumbia, Genentech) extremely dedicated and intelligent young women who are making these events happen at a new level. They both are also MBAs and doing cool health 2.0 stuff. Events like this one would not happen without new Co-Organizers like Dr. Steve Merahn and Tim Brown as well. Finally, I want to thank you as members for engaging at our events and even helping to cover costs. Our sponsors are mostly volunteer organizations that contribute space and time, so your contributions help defray the actual costs of food and,.. well, mostly food. We wanted to keep the events free, but after covering the bill oursleves a few too many times we decided it would be ok to ask for some help. Thank you for supporting this effort. If your company would like to sponsor or have a table at an event, please contact Laurie Wheeler. Laurie, incidentally, was one our first sponsors when she was at PR Newswire and is the friendly face that has met and greeted you at many events. One Final Notice: You can watch our live and archived events at www.livestream.com/health20nyc.com and www.livestream.com/faircaremd but we also launched a Youtube #H2NYC channel. Check out our first "Startup Showcase". We will redo this one, but we are learning quickly and happy to Showcase your product. ...so on to the happenings: Coming Events: Wednesday 2/15, Physicians 2.0 Physicians As Entrepreneurs: Making the Leap and Making it Work a few spots are still available - 14 last I checked Here is a new speaker we have just lined up too: ![]() New Panelist Dr. Susan Biali, M.D., Health & Happiness Expert, Life Coach, Speaker & Flamenco Dancer Author of Live a Life You Love: 7 Steps to a Healthier, Happier, More Passionate You Dr. Biali has spent over 20 years studying health, happiness, nutrition, psychology and self-development. Here are my favorites: 2/13 2-8 PM The Walking Gallery comes to NYC That's right, all those cool jackets (like mine at left) and Regina Holliday herself will be on hand for the walking gallery, a very special event where healthcare leaders and entrepreneurs lucky enough to have been recipients of a Jacket will show them off while Regina paints more. This is actually not a specific event, more of an atmosphere you breathe as you attend events like "Power to the Patients" and "Designing for Desire" which are going on at the same time and in the same place, 375 Hudson Street (see below). Very inspirational.2/16 - Healthcare Matchmaking Session at Social Media Week-NYC My friends Sara Holoubek (Luminary-Labs) and Charles Huang (Spark Capital) asked me to invite the health 2.0 crowd for a unique event format that Unity Stoakes, Sara and I dreamt up last week. It is called MatchMaker and is being held as part of Social Media Week. Essentially it is like speed dating for healthcare institutions looking for solutions and Solution providers looking for Healthcare Institutions. From Sara: "In the interest of acceleration and fostering tangible results, we are looking for key institutions and organizations as well as entrepreneurial startups with a desire to affect change through the application of technology. The event is planned as a dynamic matchmaking session to connect start-ups with larger, more established organizations. Confirmed attendees to date include Sanofi, Pfizer, Wellpoint, Empire Blue, and Medco, as well as well qualified startups from the Health 2.0 NYC, Blueprint Health, Healthbox and Rock Health incubators. Details as follows: What: Healthcare Matchmaking Session at SMW Where: Health & Wellness Hub: 375 Hudson Street, NYC, entrance on King Street When: February 16, from 3:00-6:00pm, 6:30 Cocktail to follow Why: To accelerate innovation in healthcare, we must collaborate How: RSVP is required via this link: http://socialmediawee... 2/21 - 2/24 HIMSS Conference, Las Vegas Baby!
